National Council for Voluntary Organisations to develop code of conduct for the voluntary sector 
Sir Stuart Etherington, chief executive of the umbrella body, used his speech at the NCVO’s annual conference to announce the initiative, which comes after the recent safeguarding crisis involving Oxfam and a host of major charities.

 

More people to access personal health budgets under Government plans 
The Government has proposed to extend the 'right' to have a personal health budget to people with ongoing mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism, as well as those leaving the army.

 

Making data protection your business 
The ICO have launched a GDPR awareness campaign aimed at people running micro-businesses – those employing fewer than 10 people. Resources include a self-assessment tool to determine whether the new law applies to you and eight practical steps for micro-business owners and sole traders.

 

Fundraising Regulator publishes Charities Act guidance
The regulator has published guidance for fundraising charities on how to be compliant with new reporting standards and fundraising agreements which have come into force as part of changes to the Charities Act 2016.

The KM Charity Team stages large scale collaborative fundraising events that charities and good causes can use to raise funds, without the associated risk and financial outlay.  The events raise money for school PTA groups, sports clubs, charities and business team builder to raise funds for the cause of their choice.

  • Power up for the 50k or 100k Big Bike Ride – April 29 

  • Strike whilst the iron is hot – Chart Hills Golf day May 11 

  • Got a burning desire to help a charity? – Charity Firewalk May 20

Level 1 City & Guilds Practical Horticulture Skills 

Are you aged 19-24? Looking for a new challenge and a career outside?

 

Why not join Groundwork South’s 10 week horticulture traineeship programme. There is much more to gardening than potting plants, give it a go and you’ll get work experience and learn great skills that you use in any job.

 

For two days each week you will get practical horticultural training and the opportunity to gain a Level 1 City & Guilds Award in Practical Horticulture Skills. We have Horticulture Traineeships available now in the Medway and Swale areas.
