Our mentoring programme is available for staff and volunteers to gain skills in all aspects of fundraising including bid writing, funding strategies, governance and organisation, business planning, tendering, legacies and developing budgets. This service is free for small to medium charities, voluntary and community groups and social enterprises.

SKC also runs the annual Kent Funding Fair, the fair caters for 400 delegates and there are opportunities to join in with seminars, meet funder, trusts and foundations and also book a one to one session. 

For Kent-based fundraisers the KentCAN Funding Support Area is an invaluable item in their toolkit. With a funding deadline calendar, tender notices, guidance from fundraising professionals and a library of weekly funding bulletins Kent organisations can access more funding options and can improve their chances of being funded.




SKC hosts networking events across the county for volunteering involving organisations to meet together to share resources, information, best practice and to develop new initiatives. SKC also provides the following online resources: e-bulletins, newsletter, funding alerts, representation, consultations, access to business experts, training and voluntary sector event management tailored to the needs of your organisation.  Contact details

Kent Coffee Caravan

SKC has established a reliable Coffee Caravan service focussed in rural areas of the county to tackle lonliness and isolation as well as sharing information from a range of charities, organisations and statutory agencies have introduced neighbours, facilitated new friendships and rekindled old ones over lots of cups of coffee!

Young Trustees

SKC provides training for young people wishing to become a trustee, this service enables young people to train and share their own skills with the voluntary sector and engage with their local community. Support is provided for both young people and the organisation they join.

Social Enterprises

SKC provides support services to budding social entrepreneurs seeking to launch new community-led and owned businesses across Kent. SKC provides assistance in creating appropriate governance mechanisms, identifying new investment opportunities, developing supply chains and networking  social entrepreneurs with further contacts.

Recognition of Excellent Volunteer and Management Practice (REVAMP)

REVAMP is a quality mark for volunteering involving organisations, the assessment has been developed by Volunteer Centres across Kent. Participating in REVAMP offers a great opportunity for your organisation to evaluate your policies and practices and ensure they work effectively for you. REVAMP also shows your organisation offers meaningful and well supported opportunities for potential volunteers.

One day courses

SKC runs a number of short courses around Kent. These are run by an experienced trainer in central venues across the county, courses are advertised on Eventbrite, SKC makes a small charge £10 for each course attended.

Fundraising skills for young people 14-25

SKC is runs sessions for young people to improve their fundraising skills to raise funds for their own clubs, voluntary groups, sports organisations or youth club. The aim is that young people can share their new found knowledge amongst their groups and help sustain their clubs in the future also utilising  their skills in future employment or other activities e.g. in gaining Duke of Edinburgh award.

Community Fairs

SKC runs 12 Community Fairs each year around the county to showcase, celebrate and promote volunteering. Each Community Fair is run centrally at well known venues  (theatres, town halls etc) and attracts 50 plus organisations at each event.  Community Fairs are a great space to promote your group, recruit volunteers and network with other locally based organisations.

Employer Supported Volunteering and Skills Exchange

SKC is building up links with employers around Kent and matching to organisations and charities that benefit from employees volunteering during their working week. This type of volunteering is hugely beneficial for employers but can also increase the breadth of professional services available to the voluntary sector especially in area of finance, marketing and social media.

Supporting new/small to medium organisations

SKC provides an advisory service for new groups starting up e.g how to set up a bank account / constitution etc to streamline setting your group up easily. For established small to medium sized voluntary groups advice is available regarding governance, retaining volunteers, access to funding and training is available if your income does not exceed £50,000 per year.
